A graduate of Baylor University, Pete double majored in Financial Planning and Real Estate. He and his wife, Julie, moved to State College, Pennsylvania shortly after graduating. As his wife pursued her Master’s Degree in English from Penn State, Pete started his career in finance by working with Penn State professors and administrators. While in Happy Valley, Pete taught an adult continuing education class on personal finance through Penn State’s Continuing and Distance Education program.
In 1996, Pete and Julie moved back to Kansas to be closer to home and start a family. Initially, Pete worked with KU professors, staff, and administrators, but over the past twenty-five years has broadened his clientele. In 2001, Pete joined forces with Wayne and Jude. In 2003 he completed his Certification in Long Term Care (CLTC) designation and the following year earned his Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation. He also holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) designation. He is securities registered in 37 states. Pete became president and part owner of the firm in 2005.
Pete and Julie have five mostly tolerable children from age 23 and in college, down to a 13 year-old fifth grader. Pete looks forward to the year 2031 when all the kids are (presumably) “off the payroll.” Not that he’s counting…
After mortgages, braces, tuitions, and auto insurance premiums for four teenage/young adult drivers, Pete sometimes has enough money left over to play golf, fish, and pursue photography and astronomy.
His Executive Assistant, Cindy Folks, is an invaluable part of Pete’s practice and they have worked together since 2006.
